Hi, I'm Kellie, the ambitious woman behind the dream of the Kettle River Café!

I believe that a meal may fill you for a moment, but a place that feels like home nourishes something much deeper; a sense of belonging, connection, and memories that stay with you long after the last bite.

They become the backdrop for first dates and family breakfasts. They become the place where ranchers, miners, contractors and early risers stop before sunrise, where travelers discover a small town they never expected to love, where neighbors celebrate life's milestones, and where someone who's had a hard day is greeted by name before they've even ordered their coffee.

That's the place I want to build. Not simply a café, but rather, a home for our community.

Nestled in the heart of Curlew, Washington, Kettle River Café is being created to serve a rural community that deserves more than convenience. Our town deserves a place that invites people to slow down, share a meal, and leave feeling just a little more connected than when they walked in.

Fresh espresso pulled with care. Homemade breakfasts. Warm Belgian waffles stuffed with berries and cream, or ham and cheese. Sweet and savory crepes. Soup simmers on cold winter afternoons. Sandwiches made with quality ingredients. Fresh pastries wait each morning before the sun comes up.

But what we're really serving is belonging.

Why This Café Matters:

Small towns don't just survive because businesses open. They survive because people choose to invest in them.

Curlew is surrounded by breathtaking mountains, rivers, hardworking families, hunters, fishermen, ranchers, students, Border Patrol agents, and travelers exploring Northeast Washington. Yet there are very few places where everyone can simply gather, especially within the early morning hours.

The Kettle River Café is being built to change that.

It will be a place where children laugh over breakfast, retirees meet for coffee, early-shift workers can grab a meal before dawn, tourists discover the charm of Ferry County, and neighbors become friends.

When you support this campaign, you're not helping build another coffee shop. You're helping boost the economy of small town America. You're helping create new jobs in a rural area, and you're helping build a place where memories will be made for years to come.

Why I Believe in This Dream:

This dream didn't appear overnight.

For more than fifteen years I've worked in customer service, hospitality, retail management, and small business ownership. Those years taught me that people rarely remember every detail of a meal; but they always remember how someone made them feel.

Like many small business owners, I also experienced the devastating impact of COVID. I learned difficult lessons about resilience, financial planning, adaptability, and perseverance. Those experiences didn't end my dream, but they propelled me, inspired me, and prepared me to build something stronger and more sustainable.

Since then, I've invested in my education, and spent countless hours developing a detailed business plan, researching our market, meeting with suppliers, refining financial projections, and carefully planning every step needed to turn this vision into a lasting business.

This isn't just a dream anymore. It's a plan, and now I'm inviting others to help bring it to life.

How Your Support Helps:

Every dollar invested moves us closer to opening our doors.

Your contribution will help provide the equipment, renovations, furnishings, inventory, and kitchen essentials needed to create a welcoming space our community can be proud of. It will also help us create a comfortable gathering area including family-friendly spaces where everyone feels welcome.

Whether you give $10 or $1,000, you're becoming part of this story.

Years from now, when someone celebrates a birthday over waffles, meets a lifelong friend over coffee, or warms up after a snowy morning with a bowl of homemade soup, you'll know you helped make that possible.

More Than Coffee; the Kettle River Café will celebrate everything that makes Ferry County special.

We'll feature handcrafted coffee, homemade food, locally inspired gifts, and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the beauty of our mountains and rivers. We want visitors to experience the warmth of our community and locals to have a place they're proud to call their own.

My hope is simple:

That every person who walks through our doors feels seen. Feels welcomed. And leaves knowing they belong.

Join Our Story. Because businesses come and go, but community lasts.

If Kettle River Café has taught me anything already, it's that dreams are never built by one person alone. They are built by families, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers who choose to believe in an idea before it becomes reality.

Today, I'm asking you to believe in this one; to believe in me.

Your support isn't simply helping open a café.

You're helping create jobs, strengthen a rural community, welcome travelers, support local families, and build a place where people can gather around good food, good coffee, and genuine connection.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in this dream.

I can't wait to welcome you through our doors, pour your first cup of coffee, and say the words I've imagined for years:

"Welcome to Kettle River Café. We're so glad you're here."

My Story; Risks & Challenges

Every new business comes with challenges, and I believe it's important to be transparent about them. One of the biggest challenges is raising enough capital to bring Kettle River Café to life. While fundraising is an important part of that journey, it is only one piece of a larger funding plan. I am actively pursuing additional financing, grants, and small business lending to ensure the café has the resources it needs to open successfully. If this campaign does not reach its goal, I will continue working toward opening through those other funding sources.

Another challenge is the reality of opening a business in a small rural community. Construction, equipment delivery, permits, and inspections can sometimes take longer than expected. Because of that, I have built flexibility into my projected timeline and will keep backers informed with regular updates throughout every stage of the process. For pledge rewards, I have intentionally chosen rewards that can be fulfilled reliably. Many are digital, recognition-based, or tied directly to the café once it opens. Any physical rewards will be carefully planned and ordered with enough time to ensure quality and timely delivery. Perhaps the greatest challenge is building something that lasts.

My vision has never been to simply open another coffee shop. I want to create a place where neighbors gather, travelers feel welcome, local producers are supported, and families can make memories together. That means making thoughtful financial decisions, growing at a sustainable pace, and listening to the community every step of the way. I have spent years researching, planning, refining financial projections, meeting with lenders, building business plans, and learning every aspect of what it takes to open a successful café. While I know there will be unexpected obstacles, I am committed to approaching each one with preparation, determination, and transparency. Thank you for believing in this dream. Your support isn't just helping fund a café, but it's helping create a gathering place that I hope will serve our community for generations.
